I never really watched wrestling when I was a kid, but I do remember all the Macho Man "Snap into a Slim Jim!" commercials and always thought they were fun...so this is an homage to that. I'd like to think this might've been used as a print ad in some comics back in the day.
That's an outstandingly fun work :) ! I especially like in frame three, the person sitting behind them in the theatre looking at them with the concerned face. Brilliant homage, may you get paid residuals from ConAgra Foods, Inc for decades to come :D !
ReplyDeleteThis is great dude. It has a completeness and a freedom I like. It also has a kindness that comes through. To me it references Macho Man's departure from our world in your last panel. Well done.
ReplyDeleteMike, its nice to see you moving outside your comfort zone. The colors lend themselves nicely to the playfulness of the subject matter. Good work. I particularly love the first and last panels.
ReplyDeleteI really did just laugh out loud or LOL as you so love to say.
ReplyDeleteYeah this is great. I, too, love the guy who can't see in the theater because of the tall freakin Slim Jim.
ReplyDeleteI think it's weird that you portray them as such good friends, when in each and every commercial he bit his "friends" head off... that's a messed up relationship right there. But great fun Mike.
ReplyDeleteThe "Lady in the Tramp" scene is my favorite! How is the Slim Jim eating the pasta??? Awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteAnother win for big Mike!
ReplyDeleteI like the unlucky fellow in panel 3 who's stuck behind the Slim Jim in the theatre. MM and SJ are so wrapped up in their date that they are inconsiderate to their fellow cinema patrons.
