So I did a couple of different sketches this week. The one I chose to upload is an homage to my favorite visual look for Daredevil done by Rafael Grampa. While I have loved the art from Michael lark, Miller and Janson, Buscema, and many many others I really dug what Grampa did to bring in that boxer influence.

Nice, all your sketches are good but I'm glad you went with this one. I like that you kind of combined the Boxer getup with an actual devil.
ReplyDeleteAwwww yeah. I like the other sketches too (and I totally agree about detective stories being a natural for Daredevil) but when I suggested this theme I was secretly hoping that you'd Grampa this mother out. You know I tend to favor simplicity in superhero costumes (c'mon, Jim Lee, man, I disagree with your assessment that what Superman's costume requires is PIPING), but since DD's costume is usually so basic anyway (red on...red) it's a really cool take on the outfit. Really like the details on the mask and the loose neck on the mask.
ReplyDeleteAll of your DD's are excellent, and this is outstanding! Brilliant detail, great choice of colors, dig the font work, the background, and the rugged wrestler style. Again, great attention to detail!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing Josh, and before I saw this I did see this image. Love the aged look. Thought you might like this.
