Game Night, "Call of Cthulhu." By Josh Purple

I'm guessing most of you guys have heard of that game :) .  I've always been a fan of Cthulhu art, and I plan on animating this.  Custom work, made this in 3dsMax 2012, rendered in iRay 2.0, rigged, skinned, UV'd, textured, etc.  A screen shot from Max;

The small boxes along the tentacles = the rigging.  One photometric light is out of frame, -the back light.  The bottom light is visible.  Created some darkness depth using a Z-depth pass (tentacles going into darkness).  It's not a 'classic' Cthulhu god, more of a variation inspired by other lovely, creepy skull, tentacle Cthulhu works.

  1. Nice dude. I love the texture on the tentacles and the way they disappear into the shadows. Great lighting. Now lets see you put some of those realflow skills to the test. Maybe he's rising up out of the water, or better yet he's coming out of smoke.

    1. Thank you Josh. Funny that you should mention Realflow and rising up out of the water :) ; http://vimeo.com/35183726
      Crappy compression and draft quality, but it's a work in progress. Testing a Flayer rising up out of some fluid particles in Realflow, -still need to create the mesh, skin it, UV it, texture it, etc. (rig created in 3ds Max).
