Fast, fun, and after having a great time at SpringCon, -I was inspired by Eric Schuster :) (the wiki of all things 'zilla!).

Akira Hulk, by Josh Purple
:) ...well, it was his hair that made me think of the Hulk (and he has that angry expression).

Cover to Cover: Avengers 7, by Josh Purple
Damn, I end-up following Josh's AWESOME cover work :) ! Obviously I did not get a lot of time to do this one, but I've always been tempted to do the 'giant stomp' move. Thought it would be fun and quick, -enjoy :) !

PopMusik; "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders (as Alien)" by Josh Purple
Detail;
It's a fast rough draft, but it was the idea that I wanted to get across (plenty I could fix / finish).
Since Ziggy Stardust was an alien (well, he's the human manifestation of an alien) I picked ... :) . Forgive me Rich if you were thinking of us doing a take on 'Tonight.' I was guessing that picking any Bowie album cover would work. To be more accurate I should have picked E.T. with a guitar, -since Ziggy's message was peace and love ( with just a little bit of sex and drugs mixed in :D ). "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders" was 1972, and Alien was 1979 (I think), again a near miss, but why not give the legend a violent twist into the future, -Bowie was certainly ahead of his time. Maybe the alien needs purple boots and red hair :) .
Thank You Rich, -excellent theme!

Game Night, "Call of Cthulhu." By Josh Purple
I'm guessing most of you guys have heard of that game :) . I've always been a fan of Cthulhu art, and I plan on animating this. Custom work, made this in 3dsMax 2012, rendered in iRay 2.0, rigged, skinned, UV'd, textured, etc. A screen shot from Max;
The small boxes along the tentacles = the rigging. One photometric light is out of frame, -the back light. The bottom light is visible. Created some darkness depth using a Z-depth pass (tentacles going into darkness). It's not a 'classic' Cthulhu god, more of a variation inspired by other lovely, creepy skull, tentacle Cthulhu works.

WWII: The Black Terror vs. Hitler Frankenstein Robot Bugs Bunny
Original, "The Black Terror, Robot Master."
My cover, "The Black Terror vs. Hitler Frankenstein Robot Bugs Bunny."
I really had no idea what to do for WW II . Josh did an awesome Captain America, so influenced by his work, I attempted to do a fun cover (and there's no way I could even touch Mike's epic cover work). There is a Hitler Bugs Bunny character from the cartoon, "Herr Meets Hare," and Hitler Bugs needed to have a 'robot master.' :)

Lobo the Ultimate Bastich, by josh purple
This was a tough decision for me, but I went with a Lobo by Bisley . Bisley is one of my absolute favorite artists, and his Lobo works are (I think) possibly the best :) . I selected this Lobo_Bisley work, since it's (again) one of my favorite Lobo's (I don't think it's a cover though? <--it might be? )
This is not the complete work, I plan on doing the complete work, -I was just getting nervous about time & wanted to make sure I put up what I have so far. Very FUN to do, since I decided to go with one pencil (Cretacolor Nero 350, #2) on 8.5"x11" paper, attempting to draw as much detail as possible (not erase anything, just doodling/drawing away). Feels like it's been forever since I've done this (probably shows :D ). At this point it is two pieces of paper, and I'm guessing it will take ~ 6 pieces?

Josh Purple with Lobo by Mike McMahon

I've only met Mr. Josh Purple once but he's an extremely nice guy. He's a friend of Josh Lynch's from work. Through talking to Josh P. he's into several 3D and animation computer programs and of course a very talented artist.
What caught my attention though was that he's a fan of Superman and an even bigger fan of Lobo. Josh also used to be a dance instructor, especially with swing dance and doing lifts. Learning that, this drawing of our fellow Minion immediately came to mind.
Adam Rosenlund as Wolverine, by Josh Purple
:D Heh, heh, heh! Forgive me Adam! This was VERY fun! I'm guilty of having to do this rather fast (I'm heading out of town tomorrow). I did this on my big newsprint sketch pad in black crayon :) .
Adam, I'll be honored to send you this cartoon if you want it! Send me your mailing address and I'll send this to you :) .
Thank You Adam! And Thank You Josh, excellent theme this week!!

Josh recommended a photo to give scale, so here's a little more (ugly) fun :)

Spider-man Villains: Will o' the Wisp by Josh Purple
I always thought Spiderman should do this when the villains give their long winded threats :) .
My attempt at trying to stretch out the hands of Will o' the Wisp didn't work very well... I was thinking he's kinda' of ghost-like / spooky villian (long waist, long hair, so.. long fingers). Hands are certainly a weakness for me. But, very fun to do, and a great theme for week 2!
